Hughes: I can't say I'm not disappointed

To say that Mark Hughes is 'less than impressed' to have left Barnet would be an understatement.

28-year-old Hughes was informed by The Bees that he wouldn't be offered a new contract earlier this week with this, as he told sky sports, leaving him 'surprised' and 'disappointed': 'I can't say I'm not disappointed because I am.

'I have given my all for this football club since I joined, I think the fans have seen that and fully appreciate not only the level of commitment I have shown in every game as captain but also what I have done.

'I have spoken to the new gaffer, he has said he's looking to go in a different direction and has other ideas, but given my service for the club I thought I would have been in his plans.'

Despite his disappointment he still found time to wish the club well and will get on with a 'new chapter' in his own career with the midfielder unlikely to be short of offers: 'I wish Barnet and the new management team all the best and I am looking forward to a new chapter in my career wherever that may be.'
