First Half Costs Barnet

Accrington 3-2 Barnet
16th March 2013
15:00
Crown Ground

A stunning 25-minute or so first half bust from Accrington ultimately proved the difference between the hosts and Barnet on Saturday afternoon.

Early on, from some 20-yards, Lee Molyneux (8) opened the scoring for Accrington and just past the midway point of the half Molyneux (25) fired home another long range effort, this time from 25-yards, to double the lead.

Two became three when Molyneux (34) completed his hat-trick 10-minutes from the break when he successfully converted from the penalty spot after a foul from Chiro N'Toko, with the Barnet defender fortunate not to see red.

Following a goalmouth scramble Barnet got a goal back in injury-time through Elliot Johnson (45+1).

Shortly past the hour Barnet were right back in the game when Ross Jenkins (63) scored with an overhead kick leaving The Bees, at that point, fancying the chances of a remarkable comeback?

An equaliser couldn't come and with time running out Edgar Davids picked up a second booking to be sent off for the second time in his Barnet career as Stanley ran out 3-2 victors.
