Devastating Defeat Relegates Bees

Barnet's stay back in the Football League ended on Saturday when another final day escape couldn't be managed. Defeat at Northampton relegated The Bees.

The best chance of the first half fell to Barnet loanee Keanu Marsh-Brown. Having beat the offside trap, and with Luke Gambin well placed to have scored, his effort was straight at Lee Nicholls.

Northampton made Barnet pay for that miss when Roy O'Donovan (67) drove home at the midway point of the second half.

A 2-0 victory for The Cobblers, who now go into the play offs with a win under their belts, was secured by Luke Guttridge's (73) long-range effort soon after the opener.

This defeat, with an AFC Wimbledon win over Fleetwood, ensured that Barnet's eight season return to the Football League ended and a place in Non-League is what awaits them next season, quite probably without Edgar Davids?
