Former Bee Saddened By Demise
This season ended in relegation for Barnet, the season before the goals from Izale McLeod helped keep them in the Football League.
Barnet tried to retain the services of the striker who had scored on a dramatic end of season game once to keep them up, however they weren't able to do so with him leaving on a free transfer to join Portsmouth before moving on to rejoin MK Dons in January.
News of Barnet's relegation filtered through to McLeod while he sat on the MK Dons bench recently and this saddened him.
He told the official MK Dons website: 'We were at our game and had the scores coming through and to hear that Barnet had been relegated was sad news. I think this season was probably their best season for being out of the bottom two for the majority of the year; normally they are in the bottom two and escape.'
McLeod is left in little doubt though that The Bees will soon be back in League Two, adding: 'It's sad but I am sure they will bounce back and all the best to them next year. Obviously they have left Underhill now and they would have been hoping to start at their new ground on a high, but they have a great facility there now and it is a new start for them.
'I am sure the Chairman there and everyone else at the Football Club will push to get straight back into the Football League.'
It think it's fair to say that Barnet definitely missed the strikers goals this season, his lack of work rate and commitment less so, but with around 20-goals from him this time round The Bees almost certainly would have remained in League Two.
